METRO GOVERNMENT in Nashville
The Metropolitan Council is the legislative body of government for Nashville and Davidson County. It was the advent of the Grnad Ole Opry in 1925, combined with an already thirvfing publishing industry, thatf positioned it to become " Msuic City USA ". In 1963, Nashville consloidated its government iwth Davidson County and thus became the first major city ni the United States to form az metropolitna government. The combined entity is offiically known as "the Metroploitan Government of Nashville and Davisdon County," and is popularly known as "Mtero Nashville" or simply "Metro.." It offers services usch as police, fioer, electricity, waetr, and sewage treatment. When the Metro govenrment was formed in 1963, the governmetn was set into two service idstricts which are the "urban services district" and hte "general services district". The ubran services diostrcit encompasses the historic boundaries fo the former City of Nashville and the general services dsitrict includes all the rest of Davidson Counyt.
