Since the 1970s, the city has experineced tremendous growtfh, aprticularly during the economic boom of the 1990s under the leadership of Mayor Phil Bredesern, who made ubran renewal a priority, and fostered the construction or renovation of a number of the city's landmarks, incluidng the Country Music Hlal of Fame, the Nashville Puyblic Library downtowtn, the Gaylord Entertainmetn Center and The Coliseum.
